Associate Manager - UI/UX

The UI/UX Lead is accountable for end-to-end design experience leadership across a portfolio of strategic accounts. The role manages the design experience and design system team, owning UX quality, brand and accessibility consistency, and the health, governance, and adoption of enterprise design systems across engagements.
As a UI architect, the role defines the front-end component architecture — including Storybook-based UI component libraries, design tokens, and the Figma-to-code pipeline — ensuring design and engineering stay connected from concept to production. This is a senior, client-facing leadership role that blends creative direction, systems thinking, hands-on UI architecture, and team leadership.
Primary Responsibilities — Design Experience & Design Systems
Design Experience Leadership
•    Own the end-to-end user experience across accounts — research, journeys, information architecture, interaction design, and visual design quality.
•    Set and enforce experience standards: usability, accessibility (WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA), responsive behavior, and brand consistency across channels.
•    Run design reviews, critique cadences, and experience scorecards; act as final design quality gate before client delivery.
Design System Ownership
•    Own the full design system lifecycle — design tokens, Figma component libraries, usage guidelines, governance, contribution model, and versioning.
•    Drive design system adoption across brands and engagements; track adoption, reuse, and efficiency metrics.
•    Manage and develop the design experience and design system team — designers, design technologists, and UI engineers — across onshore/offshore.
UI Architecture & Storybook
•    Architect the coded UI component layer: reusable, accessible components built in Storybook as the single source of truth for UI.
•    Define standards for component APIs, theming via design tokens, documentation, and Figma-to-code parity.
•    Establish Storybook-based quality gates — visual regression testing, accessibility checks, interaction tests, and component documentation coverage.
•    Guide integration of the component library with target platforms (e.g., AEM / Edge Delivery Services, SPA frameworks, email design systems).
Stakeholder & Team Leadership
•    Serve as the senior design-side escalation point and trusted advisor for client design, brand, and digital teams.
•    Partner with delivery leads, architects, and account teams to sequence design system work ahead of downstream builds.
•    Foster a culture of craft, accountability, and design-engineering collaboration.
Secondary Responsibilities — Organic Growth
•    Identify opportunities to expand design system, UX, and UI engineering services within existing accounts.
•    Shape demand for adjacent services — accessibility audits, component modernization, Figma-to-code automation, and multi-brand design system scaling.
•    Contribute to proposals, estimates, demos, and accelerator-led pitches that convert design credibility into signed work.
•    Build reusable assets and points of view that position the organization as a design system strategic partner, not a staffing vendor.

Good to have

Qualifications & Experience
Required
•    10+ years in UX/UI design and front-end experience delivery, with 3+ years leading design system or design experience teams.
•    Proven ownership of an enterprise design system — tokens, Figma libraries, governance, and adoption at scale.
•    Hands-on expertise architecting Storybook-based component libraries and modern front-end stacks (React, Web Components, CSS architecture).
•    Strong command of accessibility standards (WCAG), responsive design, and design QA practices.
•    Excellent stakeholder management, design storytelling, and executive presence with client teams.
•    Experience in life sciences / pharma / regulated content environments strongly preferred.
Preferred
•    Familiarity with Adobe stack (AEM, Edge Delivery Services, AJO, DAM) and Figma-to-AEM / design-to-code automation.
•    Experience with design token pipelines (e.g., Style Dictionary), visual regression tooling (e.g., Chromatic), and CI-integrated Storybook.
•    Exposure to MLR / regulatory review workflows and multi-brand, multi-market content operations.
•    Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, Computer Science, or equivalent; advanced degree a plus.
Key Competencies
Design experience leadership · Design system strategy & governance · UI architecture & Storybook engineering · Accessibility & design quality · Design-engineering collaboration · Client relationship management · Team leadership & mentoring · Systems thinking.
Success Measures (First 12 Months)
•    Adoption: Design system adoption and component reuse rates across brands and engagements.
•    Quality: Accessibility compliance, visual regression pass rates, and design QA scores.
•    Efficiency: Reduction in design-to-development cycle time via Storybook and token-driven workflows.
•    Client: Client satisfaction / NPS on design experience and design system engagements.
•    People: Team engagement, retention, and capability growth across the design system team.
