Role: Sr. AWS DevOps Engineer


Job Description: 

An AWS DevOps Engineer is a vital member of the modern cloud engineering team, responsible for designing, implementing, and managing scalable, reliable, and automated solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role bridges the gap between software development and IT operations, ensuring seamless deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of cloud infrastructure to support business goals. The AWS DevOps Engineer collaborates with developers, architects, and IT professionals to build secure, efficient, and cost-effective cloud environments.


Key Responsibilities
•    Cloud Infrastructure Management
•    Design, implement, and manage scalable, secure, and reliable AWS infrastructure using services such as EC2, S3, VPC, Lambda, RDS, and ECS.
•    Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like AWS CloudFormation and Terraform.
•    Optimize cloud resource usage for cost-effectiveness and performance.
•    Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)
•    Design, build, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, Jenkins, or similar tools.
•    Automate the deployment, testing, and release processes to improve software delivery speed and reliability.Collaborate with development teams to integrate automated testing and static code analysis into pipelines.
•    Monitoring, Logging, and Performance Management
•    Implement comprehensive monitoring and alerting solutions using AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and third-party tools.
•    Analyze system performance and troubleshoot issues proactively to minimize downtime.
•    Maintain detailed logs, dashboards, and incident response documentation.
•    Ensure the security of cloud resources and applications through IAM policies, encryption, and network segmentation.
•    Implement and maintain compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC2)

Must Have

•    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
•    4+ years of hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and DevOps practices.
•    Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code using tools like AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.
•    Understanding of CI/CD practices with tools like Git to support DevOps 
•    Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
•    Deep understanding of VPC, subnets, routing tables, NAT gateways and VPNs
•    Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon ECS or EKS) and Helm charts for large-scale container orchestration.
•    Expertise in monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions.
•    Solid understanding of networking concepts, security best practices, and cloud architecture patterns.
•    Advanced knowledge of IAM policies, roles and permissions
•    Understanding of AWS Cognito for user authentication and authorization
•    Proficiency in AWS Security Hub and GuardDuty for threat detection
•    Knowledge of AWS WAF and Shield for web application security
•    Experience with encryption services like KMS and CloudHSM
•    Understanding of industry compliance standards like GDPR, HIPAA and SOC 2
•    Knowledge of AWS Control Tower for governance in multi-account environments
•    Advanced skills in Terraform, CloudFormation and CDK (Cloud Development Kit)
•    Knowledge of blue/green deployments and canary releases
•    Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive, collaborative mindset.
•    Strong communication skills for working in cross-functional teams.
•    AWS certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator are highly desirable.
•    Agile development practices
