Must Have
The Copy Editor is responsible for editing, refining, and enhancing promotional and scientific content to ensure clarity, readability, consistency, and adherence to client and brand guidelines across print and digital deliverables. This role involves applying scientific and editorial expertise to restructure content, ensure logical flow, and adapt technical material into audience-appropriate language. The Copy Editor works with standardized processes, identifies content gaps or inconsistencies, and collaborates with stakeholders to deliver high-quality outputs while meeting timelines, compliance, and quality standards.
Copyedit deliverables
• Review and edit promotional and scientific content for language, grammar, spelling, style, tone, formatting, and overall readability
• Ensure logical flow, clarity, and consistency by restructuring sentences and improving content organization
• Adapt scientific/technical content into audience-appropriate language (e.g., consumer-friendly English)
• Apply relevant style guides (AMA, Vancouver, and client-specific guidelines) across deliverables
• Identify and correct inconsistencies, data conflicts, and gaps in content
• Ensure alignment between source/base files and final outputs in terms of messaging and accuracy
• Provide suggestions, edits, and comments to enhance writing quality and client-appropriate style
• Understand the target audience and ensure content meets communication objectives
Proofread deliverables
• Apply checklists to review deliverables for grammar, spelling, formatting, and consistency
• Cross-check layout, flow, and alignment between base and final output
• Ensure adherence to brand/style guidelines across all deliverables
Process and quality adherence
• Execute standardized editorial processes for copyediting and proofreading
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders (content, creative, project teams) to clarify scope and ensure timely delivery
• Respond to queries and incorporate feedback with minimal guidance
Educational Requirements
• Postgraduate in life sciences or pharma or English Literature with 3-6 years’ related experience
Must Have
• Strong understanding of scientific/medical/pharma content and ability to apply it in editing
• Excellent command of grammar, language, and editorial standards
• Experience working with style guides (AMA, Vancouver, etc.)
• Attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-identification skills
• Be aware of all organizational, divisional and client-related policies and procedures related to quality, information security and data privacy
• Responsible to strictly adhere to quality standards for various deliverables as decided by the business unit or client
• Responsible to maintain confidentiality and copyright rules for various deliverables/clients and company norms
• Follow all the security rules with regard to various standards like ISMS, ISO, CMMI and client guidelines
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate across teams
• Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with strong ownership
• Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
• Flexibility and adaptability to manage changing priorities and multiple deliverables
