Role: Solution Architect - CDP
Job description: You will be responsible for:
About the Role
We are looking for a seasoned Solution Architect with deep hands-on expertise in Adobe Experience Platform (AEP), Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO), and Customer Journey Analytics (CJA). In this role you will be the technical authority for the end-to-end architecture of our customer data and experience ecosystem — from raw data ingestion and real-time profile unification, through intelligent journey orchestration, to advanced analytics and attribution. You will partner closely with Engineering, Marketing, Analytics, and Product teams to design scalable, secure, and composable architectures that unlock personalisation at scale.
Must Have
Key Responsibilities
AEP — Platform Architecture
Define and govern the overall AEP implementation architecture, including data ingestion patterns (batch, streaming, Edge Network), schema design (XDM), and identity graph strategy.
Lead the design of Real-Time Customer Profile (RTCP) — segmentation strategy, merge policies, lookup latency optimisation, and profile enrichment pipelines.
Architect data governance frameworks: DULE labels, consent policies, data hygiene, retention schedules, and privacy-by-design across AEP.
Design and oversee Source / Destination connector configurations, including Adobe native integrations (Analytics, Target, Campaign) and third-party connectors.
Define Data Collection architecture: Web SDK / Mobile SDK, tag management (Launch), Server-Side Forwarding, and Edge configurations.
Lead platform scalability reviews: sandbox strategy, RBAC, API rate-limit management, and SLA planning.
AJO — Journey Orchestration Architecture
Architect end-to-end Customer Journey Orchestration solutions using Adobe Journey Optimizer, covering triggered journeys, batch campaigns, and API-triggered transactional messaging.
Design event-driven architecture patterns: streaming event ingestion, decision-engine integration (Offer Decisioning / Decisioning Service), and real-time suppression logic.
Establish channel architecture across Email, Push, SMS, In-App, Web, and Direct Mail — including message design systems, personalisation tokens (AJO Expression Language), and dynamic content strategies.
Define guardrail frameworks: frequency capping, fatigue rules, journey version management, and conflict-resolution policies across concurrent journeys.
Lead integration design between AJO and external systems (CRM, CDP, Data Warehouse, ESP) via REST APIs, Postman collections, and event-hub patterns.
Provide architectural guidance on AI-powered features: Send-Time Optimisation, Predictive Engagement Scoring, and AI Assistant in AJO.
CJA — Analytics Architecture
Design and govern the Customer Journey Analytics implementation: Connection configuration (AEP datasets), Data View design, and derived-field strategies.
Architect cross-channel attribution models and stitching configurations (Field-Based Stitching, Graph-Based Stitching) to produce unified person-level journeys.
Lead the design of CJA Workspace reporting frameworks: metric definitions, calculated metrics, date-range segments, and annotation strategies for enterprise-scale BI.
Establish data-sharing patterns between CJA and downstream activation layers (AEP Audiences, Real-Time CDP, Target) for closed-loop analytics-to-action workflows.
Define reporting SLAs, dataset freshness, and Query Service integration patterns for advanced SQL-based analytics on top of the Data Lake.
Cross-Platform & Governance
Serve as the enterprise-wide technical authority for the Adobe DX stack, maintaining Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and a living target-state blueprint.
Conduct architecture reviews, design spikes, and proof-of-concept builds to validate new patterns before broader roll-out.
Partner with Security and Legal teams to ensure GDPR, CCPA, and regional data-residency compliance across all Adobe platform implementations.
Coach and mentor senior engineers, MarTech developers, and data engineers on AEP/AJO/CJA best practices.
Engage with Adobe product teams, TAMs, and the partner ecosystem to influence product direction and stay at the leading edge of platform capabilities.
Good to have
Required Qualifications
Experience
8+ years in solution architecture, enterprise architecture, or senior technical consulting roles.
5+ years of hands-on implementation experience with Adobe Experience Platform (AEP) in production environments.
3+ years of hands-on experience with Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO) or Adobe Campaign v8 / Journey Orchestration.
3+ years working with Customer Journey Analytics (CJA) or Adobe Analytics at an architectural level.
AEP Core Competencies
Deep expertise in XDM schema design, data modelling, and the Experience Data Model ecosystem.
Advanced knowledge of Real-Time Customer Profile, Identity Graph, and merge-policy design.
Proficiency with AEP APIs: Catalog, Segmentation, Profile Access, Privacy, Query Service, and Decisioning APIs.
Hands-on experience with Web SDK (Alloy.js), Mobile SDK, and Edge Network / Datastreams configuration.
Experience with AEP data governance, DULE labels, consent management, and data lifecycle policies.
AJO Core Competencies
Expert-level knowledge of Journey canvas design patterns, entry/exit conditions, wait/condition/action nodes, and journey versioning.
Experience designing multi-channel message templates and personalisation using AJO Expression Language (Handlebars / Jinja-style syntax).
Proficiency with Offer Decisioning / Decisioning Service: offer catalogue design, eligibility rules, ranking formulas, and placement architecture.
Experience with frequency capping, business rules, suppression lists, and consent enforcement in AJO.
CJA Core Competencies
Advanced knowledge of CJA Connections, Data Views, and Workspace reporting — including derived fields, metric definitions, and attribution model configuration.
Experience with identity stitching (Field-Based and Graph-Based) and cross-channel journey analysis.
Proficiency with CJA Report Builder, BI Extension (Tableau / Power BI connector), and Streaming Export use cases.
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of streaming and batch data architectures: Apache Kafka, Kinesis, Spark, or equivalent.
Proficiency in SQL (AEP Query Service / PSQL) and familiarity with Python or JavaScript for data transformation.
Experience with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP — particularly data lake, identity, and event-streaming services.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, API-first design, and Infrastructure-as-Code principles.
Preferred Qualifications
Adobe Certified Expert or Master — Adobe Experience Platform, AJO, or CJA certifications.
Experience with Real-Time CDP, Adobe Target, Adobe Analytics, or the broader Adobe DX portfolio.
Knowledge of federated audience composition and Data Distiller / AEP Data Science Workspace.
Experience with multi-region, multi-sandbox, and multi-brand AEP deployments at enterprise scale.
Background in composable architecture patterns: headless CMS, MACH principles, microservices.
Prior experience in a client-facing architecture or principal consultant capacity.
