About the Role:
The Sr. Director - GEO will serve as the highest-ranking leader within Indegene's GEO practice, responsible for shaping and scaling our position as a global thought leader in Generative Engine Optimization tailored for the life sciences industry. This pivotal role encompasses practice leadership, client management, larger business development strategies, and the nurturing of a high-calibre team dedicated to excellence in digital strategy and AI-driven search solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Practice Leadership & Strategy: Define and execute a forward-looking vision and go-to-market plan for the GEO practice across pharma, biotech, and medtech sectors. Continuously innovate and refine proprietary GEO methodologies, including entity optimization, structured data architecture, and AI share of voice frameworks to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Business Development & Large Pitch Management: Lead and architect complex multi-country GEO pursuits, craft strategic pricing and executive narratives, and engage C-suite stakeholders through persuasive discovery workshops and presentations. Develop robust, client-centred win strategies to secure multi-million-dollar engagements.
  • Executive Client Management: Act as a trusted advisor and executive sponsor for Indegene's largest GEO accounts, ensuring delivery excellence, facilitating annual strategic reviews, and driving upsell, cross-sell, and client expansion while navigating complex regulatory landscapes.
  • Team & Capability Building: Build and lead a global, high-performing team of GEO strategists and consultants. Develop role-specific competency frameworks, onboarding processes, and continuous learning initiatives to foster professional growth and retention.
  • Engagement Governance & Quality Assurance: Establish and uphold rigorous delivery standards and quality benchmarks across engagements, oversee risk management, and ensure strategic alignment between client objectives and delivery execution through regular health checks and executive reviews.
  • Thought Leadership & Industry Positioning: Drive the creation of influential white papers, case studies, and industry reports that position Indegene at the forefront of GEO innovation. Foster strategic alliances with AI platform providers and expand the GEO ecosystem through collaborative partnerships.

Candidate Profile:

  • Educational Background: An MBA from a premier institution such as Harvard, Wharton, Kellogg, or equivalent top-tier global business school is highly preferred, complemented by a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Marketing, or related fields. Advanced certifications in SEO/GEO, Digital Strategy, AI/ML, or Analytics are advantageous.
  • Professional Experience: A minimum of 16-17 years in digital strategy, SEO, content strategy, digital marketing, or management consulting, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles building and scaling digital practices. Experience in life sciences GEO, including AI-driven search optimization and related disciplines, is required.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency with tools such as SEMrush, BrightEdge, Google Analytics 4, along with advanced knowledge of AI platforms like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Bing Copilot. Comprehensive understanding of GEO methodologies including entity optimization, knowledge graph integration, and AI share of voice metrics.
  • Life Sciences Domain Knowledge: Deep familiarity with pharma, biotech, or medtech commercial channels, brand strategy, and omnichannel frameworks. Knowledge of regulatory environments (FDA, EMA, CDSCO) and their impact on digital content is essential.
  • Leadership & Communication: Exceptional executive presence with demonstrated success leading global, distributed teams and engaging C-suite stakeholders. Skilled in board-level storytelling, executive workshop facilitation, and managing cross-functional teams.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong skills in pricing strategy and practice-level business case development, with proven results driving revenue growth and client satisfaction in competitive markets.
